A couple of years ago I heard of the 5:2 diet and I wanted to do it.
It sounded very interesting, very easy and also a very healthy way to loose weight. So, I was on this diet for quite some time and I lost weight but very slowly.
I was very motivated at that time to keep going, but then eventually I stopped doing it.
After a break of a few months, I went on ADF ( alternate day fasting) and I lost so much weight in a shorter period of time and it was very easy for me to eat this way.
But then again, I didn’t keep up with it.
And the last few months I was doing 16:8 hours intermittent fasting. I like fasting, because it makes me appreciate the food more when I eat it and it helps me to eat more healthy.
Now, 16:8 hour window fast doesn’t suit my life style anymore and I want to go back to 5:2 Diet.
And these are my 5 reasons why I am going back to this diet.
REASON 1: This is not a diet, it is a method of eating
This way of eating is very easy and sustainable once you get used to it. It takes about 2-3 weeks to get used to fasting on 2 days per week. After that it becomes your lifestyle. You don’t feel deprived of anything.
On your normal days you can eat “normal food” but avoid junk food 80% of the time and 20% of the time you should enjoy yourself.
Constant restriction of certain foods that you love can make you nervous, unhappy, stressed out etc and you will counter the desired effect.
I suggest you do everything in moderation and you will feel and look great. I promise.
REASON 2: 5:2 Diet is super easy to follow
This Diet is very flexible, meaning you can choose the days when you are going to fast and if you have unexpected friends coming to visit you or if you have something to do “social wise” you can move your fast to other day.
Basically, for five days a week, you eat normally and don’t have to think about restricting calories. Then, on the other two days, you reduce your calorie intake to a quarter of your daily needs. This is about 500 calories per day for women, and 600 for men.
REASON 3: 5:2 Diet makes me more focused and energetic
On my fasting days I feel very focused and I definitely do more in my day and I also have more energy throughout the entire week.
The best thing about this diet is that on fasting days I don’t have to cook any food, because I prepare myself the day before and make things really simple so its easier for me to keep within my 500 calories per day.
My partner will also join me on this diet so that we definitely will spend time cooking but use our time to focus more on different tasks.
REASON 4: I save money on this Diet
There is not much that I can write or say about this point but it is obvious that you will definitely save more money, because you will eat less food then usually. Definitely being on this Diet you will reap some great health benefits but your wallet will definitely thank you too 🙂
REASON 5: I eat more intuitively
After even a month you will see that your stomach will shrink and that you will be more in sync with your body. You will start craving heathy nutritious food and you will only eat when you are hungry.
Isn’t that the way we should always eat!?
Yes, but … you know … food temptations are always there, but with this approach to eating you will need less food to make you satisfied and you will also become more resistant to food temptations.
So, these are my 5 reasons why I will go back to the 5:2 diet.
