After two years I am doing it again.
Yes. If I had kept being on this diet since I heard of it, two years ago, I think I would look totally different now, but it’s never too late to go back to this wonderfully magical 5:2 diet.
As I said before, it is not a diet it is a life style.
Wednesday was my first day of fasting and I must admit it was so hard. I was not hungry during the day, but I got hungry in the evening after my work.
I drank quite a lot of water and went to bed earlier, but I didn’t sleep well.
I completely forgot that when I am on fasting days that I get so much energy and have problems falling asleep. I also experienced headache during the day so I took a pain killer and I felt much better for the rest of the day.
Also, another “side effect” of this diet is that I was freezing all day.
I guess, due to lack of calories my body gets cold. Fasting days get so much easier after 2-3 weeks and your body gets used to it.
So, I must be patient and keep going with it.
This is how I did my first fast:
I drank 2 black coffees with stevia in the morning and one in the afternoon. The rest of the day I drank water. I didn’t have any tea or any other drinks.
I promised myself to keep my fasting days very simple and I will try to eat the same meals over and over again.
I will experiment in the beginning but then I will choose the two best 500 calorie meals and stick to them. I am not a great fan of breakfast, so eating lunch and dinner for me is not a problem.
This is what I eat this first fast day:
400 gr green beans (mashed) with 1 clove of garlic, 1 tbs of butter and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper and
200 gr rotisserie chicken.
So, this was about 500 calories. It was very delicious.
I eat a lot of steamed vegetables but I changed now and making them mashed rather then eat them just steamed.
I like to change things a little bit so that I don’t get bored with eating veggies.
I am using My Fitness Pal application to count my calories. They are the BEST!
They have an app for mobile phones or you can use it on your computer. Here is their website – myfitnesspal.com

My next fast day this week is on Sunday.
I know Sunday is a day when we should eat with our family, but this week i will eat just a little less, so it will not affect my Sunday lunch with my darling.
I am planning to make Tuesdays and Thursday my regular fasting days fasting days.
What about you?
Are you going to try this diet together with me? Are you already on this diet?
I will try to change my lifestyle to fit this diet permanently.
I know someone who did and is for 2 years on this diet.
She changed a lot and she will write her story on my blog very soon as guest, so keep checking back and stay Fit and Healthy After 40 🙂
