I was very skinny and energetic. Loved sport. I was a swimmer and had a very nice slim body. After high school I moved from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Canada. Then I started working and continued to exercise regularly by going to the gym for years.
While I was in Canada (7 years) I was in great shape and very healthy.
Exercising regularly and eating healthy food.
I got divorced. I got older. Worked longed hours. I was under a lot of stress and tired from working long hours and simply just didn’t want to exercise anymore.
I was heart broken from my divorce and just stopped exercising. I didn’t even eat all that healthy.
So, I gained about 15-20 kilos of weight and since that time, I was 28 years old, and until today, I have had a problem being at the best shape of my life.
I was dieting a lot, going up and down 6-7 kilos. Then I would gain everything back and then I would decide to be very healthy and eat well and exercise, but then, I would give up AGAIN.
You know, probably you are doing the same.
And then my life drastically changed and has never been the same since I lost my brother. After his death, I was under stress and pain, I am still today and will never get over my brother’s early death.
But a few years ago, when I was 36, this sadness and stress got me very sick and I ended up in a hospital with a very bad headache. I had a “small” brain hemorrhage.
I was in hospital in Belgrade for 2 weeks, and all my medical tests were very good.
So, this happened to me due to stress. That was the doctors “verdict”.
I wasn’t allowed to exercise for a long time and even today I can’t do anything extreme and that’s why I exercise at home and I do simple workouts that I like.
My knee is better now but I can’t jump, so all of my workouts are low impact.
This journey is my personal journey to get fit and healthy after 40. I am committing to you that I will be healthy and fit after 40, because health is very important.
If you are not healthy, if you get sick, very few people will be around you. And you will not be able to do things that you like.
That’s just life.
So, stay fit and healthy after 40 and join me on my journey.
BTW, the image of me in my favourite green jeans was taken few days ago. I want to fit in them again. Not long to go!
