My 6 fasting rules

If you are new to fasting here are some rules that I follow to keep my fasting easy.

Apart from shedding those kilograms, fasting has many health benefits.

I am not going to go into the details of health benefits, but I will suggest to watch this movie (link is below) and to ask Dr Google if you have any additional questions.

  1. I make fasting VERY easy.  I always steam some vegetables and with the vegetables I eat 100 grams of grilled chicken or rotisserie chicken or 200 grams of cottage cheese.  I am always trying to eat proteins and veggies because that way I stay full longer and I don’t get hungry at all.  Keep it simple and you will not go off track. The point is to always eat the same food on your fasting Days and get into a routine.
  2. I don’t eat breakfast on my fasting Days? Why? Because the longer I go without food during the day, my body uses fat for energy and I burn more fat this way.  Also, the later I eat in the day, the smaller chances are that I will get hungry later in the evening and ruin my fast.  So, I always have lunch and dinner when I fast. This works for me very well.
  3. Don’t use your calories on drinks! I use all of my calories on food. On my fasting days I stick with water and I drink black coffee and herbal teas.  These are very low in calories and I always leave about 80-100 calories for these. Make sure that you drink a lot of water, so that you stay hydrated.
  4. I make sure that I take multivitamins and extra magnesium on my fasting Day.  This gives me more energy and I stay less hungry.  My advice, take multivitamins and minerals on your fasting days.
  5. Keep yourself busy, do anything that will keep you away from thinking about food and the kitchen. This helps a lot and time just flies, tomorrow comes pretty soon and you can eat normally again. 🙂
  6. If you feel like you are loosing motivation or you are simply going off track on the 5:2 Diet, don’t worry.  Join a Facebook Group who are specifically created for the 5:2 Diet. This way you will not feel alone and you will get all the support that you need from other members.

If you follow them you will stay on track and you will be able to fit into your jeans very easily, without dieting all the time.
