Healthy and easy to make Peanut Butter

Peanut Butter

I love peanut butter and I never buy it in the shops here in Bosnia and Herzegovina, because it’s so expensive and I don’t like the list of ingredients in it. Peanut butter is very easy to make and it takes only about 5 minutes if you are a “kitchen ninja” ;-), if not then about 10 minutes. 🙂

These are the ingredients that you will need: 

200 grams of roasted, unsalted and without added oil, peanuts

2 tablespoons of coconut oil (I use 1 tablespoon because I like my peanut butter thick, but please use 2 tablespoons for amore smooth texture). You can use any oil that you wish, but I prefer coconut oil, because I love coconut. But you can use: olive oil, butter, grape seed oil etc.

1 tablespoon of honey or more, if you like your peanut butter sweeter.


1 teaspoon of garam masala spice mix or cinnamon to flavour – you can use less, depending on your taste


1/2 teaspoon of vanilla paste or more depending on your taste

First step is to grind the peanuts until it releases it’s own oil. To grind your peanuts you can use an electric coffee grinder or Nutri Bullet.  This was the first time that I am using a Nutri bullet to grind the peanuts and I must be honest, I get a better result with the coffee grinder.

A coffee grinder is great for grinding peanuts, sesame seeds, flax seeds and sunflower seeds.  A coffee grinder is not good for grinding walnuts and almonds.

I tried it and it doesn’t grind them properly.

The next step is to melt the coconut oil in the microwave for 5-10 seconds. Then mix it with your ground peanuts. Also add honey 🙂 Mix it until it combines together. If you like a more smooth peanut butter you should add more coconut oil.

Split the peanut butter into 2 parts.  One part flavour with Garam Masala, and the other half flavour with vanilla extract.
